Quest One: Not this place again

 [Mae walks up in a bed. That alone is enough to set off alarm bells. She remembers very distinctly going to sleep last night, leaning against a half destroyed wall with a dog next to her. And considering how...well non destroyed the room was looking.... 

She very quickly snuck out of bed and started to look around the house. Grabbing a baseball bat from the small boy's room as she went. Never hurt to have a weapon when you've been kidnapped.  She looks outside.



......well this wasn't good. She quickly goes back inside and get's dressed, interogates some drones and locates the phone.]

Dr. Braun, if you're there. We need to talk because I'm pretty sure being back in this place is impossible considering everyone died last time. 

[And with that she hangs up. She's sure if he is behind this...and who else would be? It's just like last time...though she admits it's ...different and slightly more impossible...that if he was behind it, he'd be calling back to gloat at any moment. Until then.  
 

Mayfield there is a woman wandering around carrying a baseball bat like a weapon. You can find her.

A. On her lawn examining the grass, or her arm. They...feel more real then the simulation. But there's also colour here, so maybe it's just a tech upgrade. 

 

B. Going through your mailbox or garbage can. Hey, who knows what valuables you might have thrown away....like this bottle cap, score!

 

C. Interrogating young drone girls at the playground. Seriously, which one of you is in charge here?

 

D. Looking through windows of peoples houses to see if they're abandoned. Aka: where the hell is the failsafe to this place]

"I have no idea where all your stuff went. I woke up here a month or so ago with all my stuff gone and there were pictures with me and some people I didn't know. They said were were a family. Uh... Pictures... Right... Sometimes this place gives you your stuff back, but it makes you suffer for it."

Do you remember anything about before you woke up here? Were you in a Vault? Where in the Capital Wasteland were you?

"The capital what now? I was in Arizona, just got the hell pounded out of me by some jackass that used psychic powers to convince the whole world he never existed. Capital... You mean DC? I've BEEN THERE before, just not in a while."

Oh wow. That's some trip. I haven't heard that much about the west. Just that it's less radiated then the Capital.

Do you know the Brotherhood of Steel?

"I don't know what you're talking about miss. Radiated? Are you from one of those worlds where the bombs went off? Er, that didn't happen where I come from. Well, no, its happened, but not happened, and its... Uh... There's time travel involved and its complicated."

Of course the bombs went off. The great war? Start of the nuclear holocaust?

[Not that she's picky surviving in the wasteland made you eat nasty things at times.]

[Holy crap pre war food. Hell even if it's mac and cheese that sounds good.]

"There's this Italian place in town... I think it was rigatoni in red sauce. I dunno, its pasta."

[He shrugs and gets it out of the fridge]

"I'm still trying to figure out cooking without a microwave but..."

I've been pretty much living off of iguana bits for the past week. As long as it isn't strange looking meat on a stick, I'll be fine.

"Maybe I can find some soda or something to go with it."

"There's the tap over there... I guess there are the bathrooms too, but, I wouldn't drink from anything that wasn't a tap."

"Oh yeah! Don't drink the milk here. The wacked out milk man likes to poison it. I mean you can drink the milk you get from the store, but the stuff that comes in the morning. Bad for you."

....wait. So ...what is this place? I mean it looks... incredibly like the simulation I had to go in, to find my dad. But everyone's dead in that now and there's no way I was dragged back to the vault by some Robo brain or whatever.

Also I figured by this point I'd have heard from Dr. Braun again. He seems like the type to gloat.

"I CAN'T say its not some weird virtual simulation, but I've been in those and generally, it doesn't hurt as much when you get hurt in those as it does here so I think its something more sinister. Like I said earlier, there are a bunch of brains working on it, and they have a paper at the library on it all. Its all really over my head though, I was a super hero back home, not a brain."
