Quest One: Not this place again

 [Mae walks up in a bed. That alone is enough to set off alarm bells. She remembers very distinctly going to sleep last night, leaning against a half destroyed wall with a dog next to her. And considering how...well non destroyed the room was looking.... 

She very quickly snuck out of bed and started to look around the house. Grabbing a baseball bat from the small boy's room as she went. Never hurt to have a weapon when you've been kidnapped.  She looks outside.



......well this wasn't good. She quickly goes back inside and get's dressed, interogates some drones and locates the phone.]

Dr. Braun, if you're there. We need to talk because I'm pretty sure being back in this place is impossible considering everyone died last time. 

[And with that she hangs up. She's sure if he is behind this...and who else would be? It's just like last time...though she admits it's ...different and slightly more impossible...that if he was behind it, he'd be calling back to gloat at any moment. Until then.  
 

Mayfield there is a woman wandering around carrying a baseball bat like a weapon. You can find her.

A. On her lawn examining the grass, or her arm. They...feel more real then the simulation. But there's also colour here, so maybe it's just a tech upgrade. 

 

B. Going through your mailbox or garbage can. Hey, who knows what valuables you might have thrown away....like this bottle cap, score!

 

C. Interrogating young drone girls at the playground. Seriously, which one of you is in charge here?

 

D. Looking through windows of peoples houses to see if they're abandoned. Aka: where the hell is the failsafe to this place]

The milk that gets delivered to your door is poisoned, so don't drink it. You can buy safe milk at the store, though. And you have to sleep in the house you showed up in at least once every three days, or you'll be droned. It's the same if you end up with a job--go at least once every three days.

You'll get a call if you miss a day without realizing. That's how I found out I had one.

What sort of jobs do they have here?

Fairly standard jobs, I think. Teachers, waiters, office work, doctors, lawyers... I work at the bakery.

How's working in a bakery? ...what kind of stuff do you sell?

Bread, cake, pastries, that sort of thing. I like baking, so it's not bad.

Wow, that's a lot. We only have pies back home and it's usually meat.

That was a bit of a wasted morning. I thought I'd gotten lucky and everyone was throwing their money out.

If you do get a job, they will pay you for it. But even if you don't have money I don't mind, it doesn't mean a whole lot in this place anyway.

So do people just randomly show up here? You said you knew people from your world. Is that common? Or are people usually alone from a world?

I'm not sure how common it is, but it seems like when one person from a world shows up, others do, too.

Hey if you ever see a ghoul in...well I suppose they'd take his armour and -

[I'm sorry the mental image of Charon in a suit has just caused Mae to burst out laughing.]

Um....sorry, just couldn't picture that. Anyway, if tall guy named Charon ever shows up here. Could you point him towards me?

I'll make sure. If he's not human, he might not look the way you know him anyway, since this place changes that sort of thing, too.

Ghouls are people too. ....just really, really highly irradiated ones that happen to look like zombies.

...I see. But he'd probably look like a regular human to start, this place takes everything away from you, even things like not being human or scars.

I was wondering how I'd managed to lose those.

So how long does it take to get our old stuff back?

About once a month something will happen in town, and you'll get something back after that.

Alright. Has anything happened this month?

I'm--not certain if this was for May or June, actually, but during the end of May and the first week of June, everyone received letters ordering us to kill whoever was listed, with the promise of rewards such as returning home, and reminding us of what our greatest fears were. So maybe? But it seems to match up to various holidays.
