littlemiss101: (And this is why we avoid vaults)

Quest Seven: Well Three Dog isn't here

[After making a trip to the cemetery, Mae runs home and grabs the phone.]

Hey Mayfield? Consider this a PSA.

If anyone's going to go dig up those bodies, be careful. My Geiger counter went nuts near them. So either they're highly irradiated or they're doing something else to mess with my pip-boy.

Either way. Radiation sickness is not fun, trust me. So be careful. I'm pretty sure we don't have any rad-away here. And if it's not radiation?

They're glowing. That's a sign enough to be careful.

...and that's all I guess.

They... what...?

[Nina heard Mae, of course, but she sounds intensely alarmed.]

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-10-30 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
They're glowing. And my pip-boy has a Geiger counter on it. We need them back home.

[identity profile] brotherseyes.livejournal.com 2011-10-30 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
So, if they're irradiated, then...

[Sorry, Mae. Shock has made it hard for Nina to finish her thoughts, at least verbally.]

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Then you don't want to touch them.

[identity profile] godmodcomplex.livejournal.com 2011-10-30 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Radiation. Do you think that could help in narrowing down how they were killed? [ Things very suddenly became deathly serious in Mayfield over the past couple of days. He doesn't like it. ]

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-10-30 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Possibly. All there is in the graves is glowing skeletons though.

[identity profile] godmodcomplex.livejournal.com 2011-10-30 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think there's a little hope for answers out of everything. Though this is one of the more improbable situations in life.

Hm. [ It's a soft sort of noise, bordering vague amusement. ] Another one of my lifelong stances.

I'm Cable.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm Mae.

Is radiation common where you come from too?

[identity profile] godmodcomplex.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Not terribly common... but definitely not unheard of. Of course, I'd imagine there are very few things in the universe that are unheard of.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-13 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's quite common where I'm from. So I've gotten used to watching out for it.

I'm less worried about that sort of thing and more concerned about this virtual business and what it is the announcement meant by "what we aim to achieve".

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well yes. But getting radiation sickness won't help people think straight.
yamaxanadu: (Default)

[personal profile] yamaxanadu 2011-11-01 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
True. And it's better to avoid potential harm. But, I'm sure there are those who don't need to worry about the threat.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
True.

The whole virtual thing is interesting too.
yamaxanadu: (mysterious)

[personal profile] yamaxanadu 2011-11-04 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
And would explain quite a bit of the impossible situations this town presents.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I've been in something similar to this too. It was a virtual reality program. But that was something created and built in my world. And I remember getting in it.

Your world has such technology? How similar was it to this?

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
It looked ....almost exactly like this. But it was only a street. Tranquillity Lane. And it controlled by a scientist who took the form of a little girl.

He controlled everything in there. He was using it to torture the residents of the vault. He'd been doing it for years and years.

[personal profile] yamaxanadu 2011-11-04 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
That is a little too close to this scenario than comfortable. Perhaps this is a similar set up? Using technology to cast this gigantic illusion?

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I've been trying to figure out. I managed to break out of the last one because there was a fail-safe built in and I broke this weird sound lock on it.

It was inside an abandoned house. But I haven't found one of those here.
yamaxanadu: (Nothing can be done)

[personal profile] yamaxanadu 2011-11-04 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't say anything for quite a while considering that possibility.]

Considering some of the residents, those with control, it may be somewhere we can't easily reach. If such a thing exists in this place as it did to the one you were familiar with.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-13 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's what I'm thinking.

I'm still keeping an eye out for one, just in case though.
yamaxanadu: (Default)

[personal profile] yamaxanadu 2011-11-13 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
A prudent decision. Hopefully you may end up finding such a thing.

(Hope you don't mind the backtag!)

[identity profile] walking-nuke.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, you serious? They were radioactive?

... Shit. Shoulda known better ...

You got an idea how much'em bones were puttin' out?

Not at all

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure.

My pip-boy has a Geiger counter on it. It was going crazy. I couldn't get a good reading from it.

[identity profile] walking-nuke.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, shit—lesse, it's prolly been an hour since I went out to'a graveyard an' I ain't pukin' or—otherwise ...

[There's a pause as he mentally reviews various timetables for different levels of exposure.]

Okay, well, assumin' it is, then I guess I'll find out how bad in six hours at most. Because I'd uh—I'd taken a first-hand look myself.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-13 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well so far I haven't gotten any reports of radiation sickness. I don't think this place has any rad-away though, so if we do get it, we might be in a bit of trouble.

(Sorry about the delay!)

[identity profile] walking-nuke.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, probably not.

[Balin's inclination is to think she's joking about Rad-Away, but he's mindful that she might come from a world that has something like that.]

I'll keep ya posted if I start gettin' hit with'a sickness. What's your name, by'a way? I'm Balin Wilbur. Sergeant First Class.

[identity profile] littlemiss101.livejournal.com 2011-11-20 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks. Nice to meet you.

I'm Mae.

Sorry for the delay! Thanksgiving was hectic.

[identity profile] walking-nuke.livejournal.com 2011-11-26 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I'd say'a same if it werent for'a shit'a town's pullin' ...

Anyway, I better go. I need'a look at my notes on'is shit an' check up on my "son." Make sure he ain't gettin' any radiation sickness.

[identity profile] walking-nuke.livejournal.com 2011-11-27 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
You too.

[Balin will hang up after that.]
