Quest One: Not this place again

 [Mae walks up in a bed. That alone is enough to set off alarm bells. She remembers very distinctly going to sleep last night, leaning against a half destroyed wall with a dog next to her. And considering how...well non destroyed the room was looking.... 

She very quickly snuck out of bed and started to look around the house. Grabbing a baseball bat from the small boy's room as she went. Never hurt to have a weapon when you've been kidnapped.  She looks outside.



......well this wasn't good. She quickly goes back inside and get's dressed, interogates some drones and locates the phone.]

Dr. Braun, if you're there. We need to talk because I'm pretty sure being back in this place is impossible considering everyone died last time. 

[And with that she hangs up. She's sure if he is behind this...and who else would be? It's just like last time...though she admits it's ...different and slightly more impossible...that if he was behind it, he'd be calling back to gloat at any moment. Until then.  
 

Mayfield there is a woman wandering around carrying a baseball bat like a weapon. You can find her.

A. On her lawn examining the grass, or her arm. They...feel more real then the simulation. But there's also colour here, so maybe it's just a tech upgrade. 

 

B. Going through your mailbox or garbage can. Hey, who knows what valuables you might have thrown away....like this bottle cap, score!

 

C. Interrogating young drone girls at the playground. Seriously, which one of you is in charge here?

 

D. Looking through windows of peoples houses to see if they're abandoned. Aka: where the hell is the failsafe to this place]

I'm starting to realize that isn't as uncommon as it should be.

There are--oh, three or four hundred of us here, I think. Has someone explained everything to you yet? You're welcome to come inside to sit down.

I've heard a bit. But not very much. Just that people woke up here.

[He smiles.] I'm Lithuania. It's nice to meet--well, the circumstances could be better. Hold on a moment.

[He goes around to open the door for her.]

Oh hey, cool name.

Ah? Thank you. [He lets her in.] What do you know about Mayfield so far?

Just that we're trapped here. Apparently people come from worlds with better pasts then mine and there's clean water.

[She really likes that last bit.]

That's the basic idea, at least. [He frowns at the mention of her world being bad, but he isn't about to pry.] I'm not sure how the worlds thing works, although people seem to be from a lot of different ones. Let's see... I'm sure you noticed you lost all your things, but you can get them back. The town gives them to you about once a month, after something happens.

What sort of something? Do we get attacked by Deathclaws or something?

The most terrifying creature in the wasteland. I think they used to be lizards before the radiation got them...or maybe it was chameleons....

Anyway they're fast as hell and pretty much kill you in three hits. With giant claws.

Even getting hit once, feels like you lost part of your side.

[Believe her...she knows.]

[Well that sounds unpleasant.] Radiation...?

Ah, but I don't think that's happened yet. Though I've only been here since January.

[His tone implies it seems like the town's style to do something like that, though.]

Yeah, the Capital Wasteland is full of the stuff. A nuclear holocaust tends to leave some behind after all. Though I think they have less of it in the west. I've heard rumours Vegas is up and running.

If we get Deathclaws I might cry.

You're from a world that has America? ...Wasteland?

Oh yeah.

The great war happened, everyone in the world pretty much decided the best idea was to throw nuclear missiles at each other at the same time.

And now many years later we have the Capital Wasteland.

It's not that bad a place if you avoid the super mutants and the raiders and the radiation and the feral ghouls and ....

[She pauses. Okay it kinda sucked.]

...it's home anyway.

[vytis]

[He gapes at her for a second and can't help but shiver at the implications for his own fate. Not just a case of "never heard of Lithuania" but "Lithuania might not exist anymore and why would someone trying to survive in America care about Europe at all".]

I--I see. My world isn't like that--though it sounds a bit like the Cold War standoff, no one ended up using nuclear weapons. Though this place--I've heard they've hinted that there was some sort of nuclear war here, too.

Oh, I'm getting a little off-topic, I'm sorry. [This subject is kind of depressing anyway.]

Really....well that's interesting.

Oh no that's my fault, brought up Deathclaws and all that. ...Oh you're probably from an earth too. Sorry, I know that it's not a nice story even for us st-

[She blinks. Wait, Lithuania....that was in a few old world books.]

Oh, are you from Europe?

[vytis]

Oh, yes! [He's a bit pleasantly surprised, but then he frowns.] Though if I explain you're going to think I'm crazy.

People have caught me going around tapping on garden gnomes because I think this might be a computer program. And digging through their garbage because bottle caps are the main currency where I'm from.

Also apparently magic is real.

[He smiles a bit at that.]

Alright, well--my world is Earth, with the nations and civilization intact. And each country has a personification. A person who represents all the people and area they live on. And that's what I am. [He pauses for a moment.] I'm also not the only one from my world here, if that helps my story.

The country of Lithuania.

Either you're right or you're some crazy person but seeing as I've had to come to that conclusion about everyone else here, might as well go with the first.

[His smile is a bit sheepish.] I know it's a bit hard to believe, though you'll probably meet others who will introduce themselves as countries as well. I know America's here. Russia was, but he's been droned since.

[He shakes his head to clear it. Best not to think too hard on it.]

So...is there a 'reason' why we're here? Free slave labour or something?
